The English squad will commence their Euro 2028 campaign at the the home of Manchester City, on the condition that they attain the relatively straightforward entry for a championship staged throughout the majority of the UK and the Ireland.

Manchester City’s home ground has not hosted an Three Lions game since the spring of 2016, when the visitors were overcome 2-1 in a exhibition match, but is almost certain to stage the Three Lions for their inaugural game on June 10, 2028.

England are set to play their concluding group fixtures at Wembley Stadium, but, in the event of winning their group, their last-16 tie would be held at Newcastle’s St James’ Park. Finishing second would mean starting the knockouts at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Championship Launch and Rally

Tournament Timeline

The first match of Euro 2028 will be staged at the Principality Stadium in the Welsh capital, on Friday 9 June, a match that will involve the Dragons if they secure a place.

Wembley Stadium will host the two semi-final matches and the final, which will be played on a Sunday in July 2028 with a start time at 5:00 PM.

It is hoped that an afternoon start, which will also be used for European club finals from the upcoming season, will cater to family audiences and help reach a wider spectrum of audiences.

Qualifying Teams

The Irish team are set to play their initial fixture at the Dublin Arena and the Tartan Army would do the same at Glasgow’s Hampden Park.

Each host nation’s squad will take part in the preliminary stage; two automatic spots will be reserved for any that fail to qualify for the tournament through that route.

Locations and Knockout Stage

Villa Park and The North London arena round out the nine tournament locations. All will hold at least one knockout match, with the quarterfinal matches played at every host’s main arena.

The draw for the qualifiers will be held in the Northern Irish capital, which was excluded as a tournament location last year when it became clear the proposed venue could not be renovated in time, on 6 December 2026.
