The Streaming Giant Chooses Perfect Actor for Bentham in One Piece Upcoming Installment
Baroque Works is poised to exert significant influence in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the true confrontation won’t take place until season 3, and a beloved, audience-beloved member has now been chosen.
The streaming service revealed recently that Cole Escola will appear in the One Piece season 3 cast and will portray Bentham. This character can use their power to transform into an perfect replica of anyone they’ve touched with their dominant hand. The actor, who is non-binary and goes by they/them, will portray a rendition of that role reinterpreted as non-binary, as opposed to as a drag queen, in the real-life adaptation, as in the source material and anime.
The new cast member is joined by several other new cast members set to bring Baroque Works to reality, such as head the main antagonist, portrayed by Joe Manganiello, an emerging star as a key member, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the lineup as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.
Though this character is a major member of the organization, the persona will be introduced in One Piece the upcoming installment. Considering season 2 expected to adapt the Little Garden arc, this marks a major departure in the timing of their first appearance, one that could signal more adjustments to the plot development.
Escola’s blend of precise humor and emotional depth makes them a ideal selection for the role. In addition to their latest vocal work in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and multiple awards for creating and performing in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, showcasing the adaptability they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s highly regarded roles.
Netflix's live-action One Piece program is due to premiere for its next installment on the tenth of March, 2026.
