The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Leader.
Although not quite at the equivalent scale as sparing holiday birds, but the mayor of Miami-Dade conducted a presidential-style act this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
“The swine has done no wrong. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” stated the mayor in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of pardons issued since the beginning of a new presidential term.
“Unless you count eating half a dozen apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “Let this swine have a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”
The event, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was established to replicate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.
The swine, provided by a first responder, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people yelling “six seven” – deriving from a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently made “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.
A Future Secured
This particular pig is now destined to live out its days at a rural sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.
“This swine clemency has become one of our favorite ways to open the festive period,” said the cafe owner, in a decidedly positive message.
“It captures the essence of Miami: joyful, diverse, and based in heritage that bring people together. Annually, we are delighted to mark heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”
Attendees enjoyed a vegetarian menu of croquettes and cafecito as they celebrated Six Seven’s big moment.
