Former Doctor Accused of Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities report that a former doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults against 38 victims who were under his care.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors said the 45 charges include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
