Disaster Occurs as Accidental Detonation at Police Station in Kashmir Region Under Indian Control Takes Nine Lives
A catastrophic detonation at a law enforcement facility in the Kashmir region under Indian control has caused the fatalities of nine people and wounding to thirty-two additional people, according to official statements.
The event took place when a collection of confiscated explosives inadvertently exploded during handling procedures.

The detonation happened on Friday night at the Nowgam security post, where explosive materials taken from Faridabad in the northern territory of Haryana were being held provisionally.
Local police chief declared that the blast materials were scheduled for scientific analysis when a "very unfortunate" mishap during handling resulted in their blast at approximately 23:20 in the evening.
Official Statements
Police authorities verified that this was an "inadvertent blast" and rather than a militant action. "Different conjectures regarding the cause of this event is unnecessary," emphasized the security director during a journalist meeting.
The police station experienced extensive destruction from the explosion, with nearby constructions also being impacted by the intense detonation.
Consequences and Victims
Numerous cars were "covered in blaze and turned into burned shells, with debris scattered across the area," according to official reports.
"The intensity of the detonation was so extreme that some body parts were recovered from adjacent homes, approximately 100-200 meters distant the security post," reported an official source.
The bulk of the casualties were law enforcement personnel, along with forensic personnel, two investigative imaging experts, and a garment worker who was accompanying the group.
Administration Reaction
The territory's Lieutenant Governor conveyed commiserations and declared that an inquiry had been commissioned into the tragic incident.
"I have ordered a investigation to ascertain the cause of the inadvertent detonation. Extremely pained by the fatalities of important persons due to exceptionally devastating accidental blast at Nowgam police station in the Srinagar area. My condolences to the grieving relatives. I pray for quick healing of the wounded," wrote the official on online channels.
