Stateside actor Pat Finn, who appeared in iconic programs like "Friends", "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has passed away at the age of 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in LA recently following cancer treatment beginning in 2022, per news outlets.

"Pat Finn never met a stranger - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his loved ones stated in a announcement.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".

A Prolific Television Career

His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.

He subsequently landed a repeating character on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a social organizer famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.

Throughout the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous popular shows, including:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • "House"

Finn was perhaps best known for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight series over nearly a decade.

His work in movies include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Outside of his television work, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.

He was part of a six-member improv team called "Beer Shark Mice".

"He taught, supported, and inspired many learners throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.

Paying homage, fellow actor Richard Kind said there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote on social media.

The actor is survived by his wife Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
