Arne Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was understandable for questions to be asked about his future after another heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in 12 games, representing the team's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got a lot of support from above,” Slot commented.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win of course but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that people question you.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I feel the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented familiar failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It is not good enough. I don't have to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a phase such as this with performances so bad.”

Jones finished, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is gone, we'll continue to fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to its rightful place, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
